I think that four year old boys, in bed, heavily sleeping with their arms above their heads are very very very cute.
My parents left today, it was so fun that they could come and visit. I wanted to take care of them, but of course they ended up taking care of us. I miss them already and they've only been gone for a few hours. Poor Max really wishes he lived closer to all his grandparents, and I don't blame him. He probably has the four best grandparents in the world. Oh well, maybe someday we can get closer.
I miss the fall leaves! They're mostly all gone now, and it's sad.
I can't believe how cold it is here suddenly. It's freezing outside. As I sit here my hands feel all cold and stiff from typing and my feet are frigid. I wonder if it's just going to stay this way until spring.
Today when we got home from dropping Max off at school, Sultan had escaped the yard. The back gate blew open in the wind last night I guess.
When I walked up the sidewalk I saw him there at the end of our driveway sitting right by the back of the car. Poor guy. He was all scared, and so was I.
I'm so glad he had the brains not to run away. I'm so glad he didn't get hit. Phew.
Kris is coming back from NYC right now. He got to be involved in the interviews for next year's residents. I'm very interested to hear all about it. Thinking about the whole application and interview process sure brings back some stressful memories. I'm just so glad we don't have to do that again anytime soon. I have big-time sympathy for anybody that's doing it right now.

It blows my mind. I honestly thought it was a possibility that we'd never see gas below $2 again. And it's quite the relief to my pocketbook right now. I know it's not a great sign for the economy that gas keeps dropping, but I can't help but like it. Between the lower prices and our new smaller car hopefully our gas bill is going to be quite a bit lower. We'll see.

Gas was $1.78 here! Cant you believe it!? Steve only had to put $16 of gas in the other day to fill up--I'm not complaining either!
(I think I meant to say "CAN you believe it!?") ha
Yeah, and it's so weird to live close enough to a gas station, you can check out the price without leaving the house. It was FREEZING there today. But we just got in to Phoenix, and I went to the ladies' room and looked in the mirror, and it was like I was having a hot flash or something - I was totally flushed, and I'd taken off my coat and my sweater in the plane when we landed.
Maybe you can only change altitudes and times on a creaking body so many times before it starts freaking out - changing temps like chameleons change colors, hoping to find the right one for the place.
I'll have thoughts going through my head tomorrow, but for now, I'm just glad to be finished with most of this trip. If we can just get a pilot who can take off and land safely, and then get ourselves down through two valleys without falling asleep at the wheel, cool -

Parents are the best inventions. So are 4 year old boys sleeping cutily. I think cutily is a great word I just invented.
Nora is right, I heard we have some of the cheapest gas in the country. As far as the economy goes, I remember when oil was around 110 a barrel. An oil minister from the middle east mentioned that the price of oil was being artificially inflated, and the market wouldn't support that for very long.
I think you should move closer to the grandparents as well. I think that is a fabulous idea!
I always wander around a bit stumbling when my parents leave. I understand the not living close to grandparents. My children never have and it is hard. It does mean that when they do come we pack the time as much as we can with good memories.
You've got great photo's and your mom's blog to go back and replay the week to your hearts content.
AND with gas prices being what they are.....maybe you can come out and visit soon......that is a long drive.......never mind.....fly!

P.P.S. You know, looking at your blog this morning (among MANY other reasons) I really like it. I like how clean it is. I'm too surrounded by chaos I think and so it is refreshing to look at your blog and it is clean!
Gas was $1.93 in Seekonk, yay! Sounds like the cold is here to stay...Florida is going to feel amazing to you guys!
We at $2.09 here but it seems to be dropping by the day.
There is nothing better than sleeping kids, visiting family and fall leaves. Most of the leaves are gone here too, and today the weather has turned cold.
