::interruption::

We interrupt the long awaited bike race report to bring you some hilarious photos of a small baby eating a large sandwich.

See the bite hole in the top of the sandwich? Normally Sandy will share this sandwich with another person, and I will break it into smaller pieces for him. But today he was very adamant that he was going to eat this sandwich ON HIS OWN.

I love how his biggest bit still doesn't make it through to the innards.

Max can do it too of course!

He kept on attacking the sandwich--usually to quick for me to get a photo.

The most hilarious thing was that he was rooting around on the sandwich to try to find a mouth hold. Sooooo funny.

And there you go. He only got about three more bites than that one at the beginning before he ran out of steam and tried to wrap his leftovers up and put them away. I was very impressed with his tenacity. Dedication to eating, that's a good family trait we're happy to pass on!

Go take a quick look if you don't remember it. You'll want to remember it. We were at Jimmy John's the other day, and Lucy was lucky enough to score half of Sandy's sandwich. She was really hungry, so she dug in. Right into the top of the sandwich, just like her brother before her!
 Sandwich eating skill--her father has it, her brother has it and SHE has it. I've never known anybody but my two small people to eat a hoagie this way.

 I tried for a better picture but she moves way too fast. Just know it was awesome and I was enjoying it to no end.

::dinner::

We're trying to enjoy our last couple of weeks here. Enjoying moving preparations is never easy though, really.

The other day when Kris got home we decided to pick up a sandwich to eat in a local park area that's super pretty.
We're trying to soak in all the green, because I'm sure I'll miss it later. (But I'm not going to miss the humidity, I promise.)


We got a sandwich from Jersey Mike's. It's the local attempt at a sub shop. It's better than 99% of the sandwich places around. It's still a sad substitute for Planet Sub, or Sensuous sandwiches back in Provo. (Mmmm, now I'm getting hungry.)
But they do have big thin cut slices of dill pickle on the sandwich that are really tasty.


Kris was just glad to be done with another one of his (rather miserable) 11 hour work days.


Max was glad to be outside. And eating doritos.

But he was bummed because we said we were going to a park. But it wasn't exactly what he was hoping for in a park. He was looking for slides and fireman poles and that kind of thing. So in lieu of all that he decided to climb on the car and drive us nuts. And drive poor Sultan nuts who was stuck inside the car because we forgot his leash.

Can you see our new luggage carrier on top of the car? We're gearing up for the cross country haul!

Anyway, it was a nice evening outing. We're trying to have some fun and relaxation together in the midst of the chaos that is moving.

So far so good.

::kansas city::

In early November we got to go to Kansas City to see Kelly's family and to be present for baby Gray's blessing. We were pretty excited to go, considering it has been years since we've been back there. We're quite fond of Kansas City and there have been many things we've missed about it over the years.
The bummer was that it was seriously a whirlwind trip. We got there saturday afternoon and left monday morning.
So it was tough to squeeze in all we were hoping and wanting to do.

But of course, most importantly, we got to see family. Kelly and Lechelle had a nice little open house before the blessing with lots of yummy food. We got to hang out together for a bit there, and then go to church. The blessing was so nice and their ward seems great.
Before church we took a couple of photos, but Boston was NOT wanting to cooperate. Cute, but cranky!

Besides the family time, we got to go and eat some of our favorite foods at our favorite places. The Taqueria Mexico was still there, just the same as when we left it.


And still delicious. Sandy loved digging into the rice and beans.

We also went to our favorite sandwich place--Planet Sub. Twice. And it was just so stinking good.
The funniest thing is that we started taking Max to Planet Sub (regularly) back when he was about Sandy's age. He would eat a little bite of the kid's sandwich and then be done.
Well Mr. Sand the crazy eater chowed the whole peanut butter and jelly sandwich and then asked for MORE!


I think he may have the potential to grow up to be a competitive eater. YIKES. I better watch out.

So it was a fun quick trip. Wish it could've been longer, truly it only seemed like we saw Kelly & Lechelle for a few minutes. But we can do it again soon! We're always up for more Planet Sub.

::nephew::

This is one of my lovely nephews--Christopher. My brother's little guy. But if you call him Christopher, he won't answer or even turn around. He goes by Scooter. He loves things that spin around, he speaks complete sentences in his soft squeaky little voice, he loves his Pup and his Dog, he loves cell phones and he coveted Max's toy microwave insanely. He's not afraid of me which makes me SO happy.
He also doesn't eat.
Or so I hear. His parents say they battle with him to even get him to eat stuff like chicken nuggets & mac and cheese. He only likes juice, cheese sticks and some other stuff I can't remember.
Goofball, right?
I made him a sandwich one day when they were visiting and he actually started eating it. It took like 45 minutes, but long after I had left the table I came by and saw him chomping down the sandwich. It had to be documented.


Dismemberment of the sandwich is not important. It's just the eating that is.
He got a call at some point, but he didn't let it distract him.


Isn't he cute? I'm so glad he got to come visit with his family and we got some fun one on one time. Even if it's taken me almost a month to post some pictures of the visit. Oh well.

::more CA fun::

So after we had breakfast we went back to the hotel for some naps by way of a quick Target trip to pick up some necessities and a couple of snorkels for the boys.

Lucy actually did nap a little which was nice, and Kris went out to catch a few quick waves.  It was pretty cool and cloudy all morning but the sun came out as soon as Kris got back.  After he was back we headed out to walk to lunch.  One of our favorite things about this part of San Diego is that we can walk a lot of places.  It's super fun.



Miss Lou was super patient and relaxed about riding in the stroller.  We had fish tacos at Rubios and then walked over to Sandy's favorite ice cream sandwich place, the Baked Bear.



How I love that little Lucy in the big hat!



The boys love the ice cream sandwiches.  You pick what kind of cookies go on the top and bottom of the sandwich and what kind of ice cream goes inside.  The boys usually pick something rather gross.



Kris and I shared a sandwich with Lucy and she was very pleased about it.



After that we went out to the bay--the hotel room we stayed in opened right out to the bay so we just went downstairs and set up so the boys could swim and play.  There was a lot of snorkeling, a lot of digging in the sand and mud and a lot of goofing around.



Sandy in the snorkeling getup was hilarious.





This was the first time Lucy ever walked in the sand, and she was very unsure of herself at first.  Not scared to be put down like Sandy was when he was 1, but she thought it was pretty weird.







The bay is so fun for the little guys because it has a nice slow slope down into the water, there are hardly any waves, but there is still nice sand to play in and the water is fresh enough.



Lucy was having a blast playing.  Max was out noodling around like usual, he's basically a fish where things like that are concerned.



Sandy alternated between swimming and floating and digging and all that fun stuff.



It was a great fun day, and we all kind of felt like little Lucy there at the end, big smiles all full of ice cream and sunshine.

::the fourteenth week::

This poor little week fourteen post is long long overdue. Baby is already fifteen weeks and counting! But I'm not going to give up just because I'm slow. So here you go.

We're starting with Sand all ready for church. I love little sweater vests. I love this whole little outfit. He looks so adorable and church appropriate (like babies aren't always church appropriate!).
I like dressing babies up, especially boys because the girls are always dressed in little dresses, but baby boys don't usually get dressed up too much.
So here you go.



He's been great at church. It always starts about when he's supposed to nap, and since he's a light sleeper he can't just sleep in his carseat or being switched between people's arms. I've been putting him in my Moby wrap while I do the music in primary and he tends to sleep through the whole thing. By the time we get to sacrament meeting we're both super sweaty and uncomfortable, but at least I'm able to get done what I need to with a minimum of distraction. It also helped when we first brought him to church, because less people can touch him and cough on him while he's tied to me. Hah.

Next is Sandy with his katamari.

Now, you might be wondering what a katamari is exactly, and I wouldn't blame you. Katamari is a fabulous video game we've been playing in our family for years now. You're a little character pushing a big ball around trying to roll everything up. And the balls look just like this toy of Sandy's.
Max found it for him when we were out shopping one day and he loves it. Max loves it too and wishes he had one of his own.


And lastly, a couple of phone pictures from our Phoenix trip.
Sandy fell asleep in my arms on the bed, and that just doesn't happen that much. It was so sweet I had to take a picture even though it turned out pretty dark and terrible. He's so nice to snuggle.


And here we are eating at our favorite sandwich place in all the world, Planet Sub. Turned out they had just opened one in Phoenix--it was grand opening weekend. We drove about 40 minutes to get there and it was totally worth it. If only there was one here.

Then Sandy might be able to look forward to enjoying a delicious PB&J kid sandwich. As it is, at least we're closer now.

It was a good week.
