::waiting for max's race to start::

Just found a couple of cute pictures that we didn't post when reporting on the race. I like them, so they get their own little spot here.
I just have to say it again, the weather was SO NICE there! We were so lucky.

::drives me nuts::

I want to know if this drives anybody else nuts.
I hate when school pictures are taken, then a big packet of prints are sent home with the kid.
20100528-20100528-IMG_1130
Yes I think my kid is adorable (even though this photo is totally goofy. Totally.) Yes I'd love to have a BIG one and a billion LITTLE ones and some in between ones, and keychain ones and ones that look like a credit card, etc. etc. BUT. I'm just not going to pay $50 for the whole packet they sent home. I mean, seriously?
I usually buy one sheet. $13 is already stretching it for me for one of these photos.

But anyway, what I really hate is sending the rest of the prints back. I hate the thought of my little boy's face floating around in the ether. And seriously, if they're already printed out--if they'll risk just having to throw them away are they really worth $50? NO!!

So I hate that. I wish they'd just let me order and print to order. They make me feel guilty for sending back photos of my little gapped tooth smiling boy.

Dumb old lifetouch.

.::New House Pictures::.

FINALLY! Here are some pictures! I did find one disadvantage to my new lens that I usually love--something about the focal length makes it so I can't get very good shots of small rooms. So you'll have to bear with me and use your imagination a bit, ok?
Here's the front porch, with Kris on the way out.

It's not the kind of porch you can hang out on like our last house, but that will discourage leering obnoxious neighbors, so that's ok.
Here's the living room, looking in from the dining room.
20080519-IMG_4789.JPG
you can't see too much here, but maybe this can give you the idea that the living room is kind of long and narrow--three windows looking out to the street with a radiator below. The couch is facing the windows....and the next picture will help to illustrate some of the rest of the room.
20080519-IMG_4788.JPG
We've got our TV and bookshelves on the wall there that you can see. Behind the chair Kris is sitting in is kind of an entry way--well by that I just mean a clear area heading in from the front door. On the back wall we have Max's little desk and his computer between a couple of windows.
20080519-IMG_4810.JPG
We have double front doors, and by that I mean there's one leading in from the outside, then a small entry and another front door leading straight into the living room. I like it.
20080519-IMG_4809.JPG
Here's the kitchen--please ignore the clutter. We were still unpacking the kitchen I guess. I like the glass cupboards. It's fun to get to show a few pretty kitchen things off.
20080519-IMG_4790.JPG
It's really hard for me to get a better angle and show you much, but you get the idea I hope. The counters are nice!
I was going to post a picture of the nasty gross loud fridge, but since we finally talked the landlord into getting us a NEW ONE I figured that was old news. We should have a new one there by the time we get back from our trip, yay!!
Here's one of the other corners of the kitchen. You can see the pantry in this shot. I love the pantry!

Max's room with his new bed:

20080519-IMG_4797.JPG
I hope he likes the bed. It looks good in his room and takes up less space than his old one. And now we can use his old one for guests. It's a good deal.
This is a shot of his room from the doorway. You can see part of his rocking chair (technically it's MY rocking chair, but he thinks it's his. Whatever works)
you can see his new ikea rug that I think is so cute, and his dresser with the new drawer pulls we just barely put on. Oh yeah, and the lovely radiator that takes up the whole wall. So weird!
20080519-IMG_4798.JPG
For our room I really couldn't get a good angle at all, so you just get to see little pieces. Here's part of the bed and the awesome nightstand that goes with the bed. We could only really afford one, so we're saving up for the one that goes on the other side.
20080519-IMG_4803.JPG
Here's our cool new bedspread on our cool new comforter duvet thing from ikea.
20080519-IMG_4801.JPG
Our dresser that matches the bed.
20080519-IMG_4808.JPG
I couldn't get any very good shots of the guest room or the dining room. I guess you'll just have to visit us to see those.
Here are a couple extra tidbits for you though.
This is Kris and the red Grover in our lovely driveway that's supposed to be able to fit five cars. We'll see about that. I'm just glad we were in the place first. The upstairs people will be moving in at the beginning of June. Hopefully that means get some sort of claim on the driveway. We'll see.
20080519-IMG_4817.JPG
The problem is that in Providence proper nobody's allowed to park on the street overnight. That could be hard to get used to! Kris already left the car on the street one night until he woke up suddenly at 4 because he thought he heard a tow truck. He ran out there and luckily the car was still there, with no ticket. We probably won't be as lucky the next time!
Finally here's a shot of the street in front of our place, which tends to be rather busy, and more importantly the marvelous toy store that's just kitty corner from our front door. Max will be in heaven.
20080519-IMG_4815.JPG
So there you go. You got the VIP tour. We like the place and we think it's going to be really fun. Come and visit!

.::School Picts::.

Here's Max's school picture from this last fall.

Frazz school picture fall 07.jpg

Isn't it funny? Can you see the paper mache mushroom on the right hand side?
I like his hair in this one. It looks like him.

Here's his picture from a couple of weeks ago.

school 08 1.jpg

So funny! I don't like his hair so much in this picture, it looks like somebody tried to tame it, which is just a bad idea. The school pictures are so silly. I'm glad I have other better pictures of him, but I'm glad to have these too---they're just a crack up!
