::still dry enough::

Just a quick update on our status out here in the Ocean State today:
It's been raining a LOT and evidently there has been some river flooding--not just this week, but a week or so ago too. Lucky for us weren't not near any rivers--we're much closer to the bay than anything else where we are now. So we've just been seeing piles and piles of rain. And Sultan is going nuts stuck inside! Luckily he's good at "holding it" if you know what I mean.
And Max's school just got cancelled for today--that's the first cancellation due to rain I've ever been involved in. Crazy!

Anyway, just thought I'd let everybody know that we're dry enough. No flooding here. We are glad we're not living in our last house though--that basement would flood if you spat on it basically. So I can only imagine it's horrible right now. We don't have a basement here and so far we're all dry inside. Hopefully it stays that way. And hopefully the rain stops soon for all the poor people who are dealing with flooding!

A couple of not particularly interesting pictures, just to illustrate:

The backyard is basically a swamp with pools of standing water. Luckily our soil is really sandy out here so it doesn't make for a ton of mud. Usually anyway.
You can see the grass is starting to green up in these pictures. It's about time!

::crazy rain::

If anybody runs into Noah in his ark, send him our way. We're getting drenched right now! And we're getting close to 40 straight days of rain, so I have reason to be making escape plans!

Kris's parents are coming to see us today and we're going to officially celebrate Kris's birthday tonight--on his real b-day we were being soaked in Maine while he couldn't get a fire started in the 100% humidity! Not cool. And plus we didn't have a coconut chocolate layer cake to eat out there. So today should be fun.

Hopefully the fourth will be sunny. It looks like it could be, so far so good!
