::car dealership::

IMG_4195
One sunday a month or two ago Max decided he wanted to play "car dealership". He got out his big ol' box of matchbox/hot wheels cars and went for it.
He's always always loved cars. He's spent so many hours of his life playing with them. I love how engaged he gets.
Anyway.
IMG_4187
And this is what he ended up with.
Isn't it amazing looking? We have lots of video with him explaining it and showing how you shop for cars, and having cars shopping for other cars. All sorts of good stuff.

But the biggest challenge is protecting the work of art from the little stinker.

But back then little piglet had just barely learned to crawl and he didn't go too fast. In fact I don't know if he ever even noticed the dealership was there. Our living room is big enough that Max can go back behind a chair and stay out of the line of sight.

So the dealership went on all that day, and it was, of course, super tragic when we finally had to clean it up.

He's such a funny guy, that Max.

::peas::

20110615-IMG_3746
It's something special about peas. Whenever our Sand gets peas in his mouth--after the initial snarfing because of hunger--he spits.
20110615-IMG_3761
And he spits, and he spits and spits. I'm usually covered with little spots and so is everything else.

He makes like he's hungry for a bite. Then comes the tricky part. Sometimes he is hungry enough to just swallow it. Other times he spits it at me right away. I'm never prepared and it's always startling, disgusting and funny--as long as he catches me on a day when I have my sense of humor intact.

He does think he's pretty funny.
Besides this evening, last time he did this we were out to eat. Luckily we were in an outdoor courtyard where it was loud, so hardly anybody noticed and nobody could complain. I was a little bummed though when I pulled my sunglasses out of a bag under the table and the lenses were all coated with peas.

Please note the concentration--the flexed muscles--the amazing embouchure. He's serious about his spitting exercises.
If only you could hear the sound effects. Maybe someday soon when you come and visit. I'll let YOU feed him the peas.

You won't be able to resist.

::anniversary::

20110514-IMG_3615
This darling little guy hit his six month mark last week. The date came and went of course, due to an extremely busy crazy week. But I didn't want to let it pass by completely without remarking on it.
In some ways I can't believe it's been six months and in some ways it feels like the last six months have been years. Of course we can't imagine our family without him--or even how life was before he was here.
He's our darling friend and brother. We're just so happy to have him around.

He finally started eating real food last week, and by today he's begging for it--veggies and a bit of fruits. When he's eating if I put down the spoon he gets very distressed and mad at me. He wants me 100% dedicated to the task at hand.

He also finally starting rolling on his own today--he's done it a few times but not consistently and mostly with a good amount of encouragement. Today he's just been going for it--from his back to his belly--over and over.
We're so proud--a little scared of how things will change when he really starts moving around--but proud nonetheless!
Happy six months to our Sand. So glad you're here with us!

::12::

These first three are a cheat. They really belong to week 11. I'm not sure how they slipped past my radar. I'm going to blame it on fun visits from my parents--way too much fun to think straight.
But these photos are way too adorable to leave off the interweb!
Baby entertaining himself in his little bouncer while we did stuff in the kitchen.

Shades of cross-eyed-ness, but not truly cross eyed. It's amazing I caught him staring straight at the camera!
20110128-IMG_2933
Here he is demonstrating his best skill. Bubbly bubbles. He's very excellent at it and does it ALL the time.

I LOVE this one. So cute.

Alright so here's official week 12. And how CRAZY is it that he's been here for 3 months already? I think I've said this 20 times already just on this blog, but time goes too darn fast. He's growing and changing too fast for me. I wish all his little stages would last twice as long.

We had lots of fun with my parents when they were here, and the baby especially enjoyed his one on one time and tons of attention and cuddling.

I love this action shot here, my mom is all blurry and actiony.
20110201-IMG_3002
And that baby is loving it. And I'm loving the sideways smile with his little bow mouth.
20110201-IMG_3001
20110201-IMG_3003
Here he is enjoying one of his favorite pastimes--the gas massage. He's such a gassy baby sometimes, he just loves to be squished. It doesn't make much sense to me.

And lastly here he is again in his full body sweater sitting on the couch. I just can't resist a couched baby in a red sweater. How many different pictures do you think I have of him like this? A lot!
20110202-IMG_3005
It's because he's adorable and he looks different every day and I just can't help it.
20110202-IMG_3005
And there you go.
Slow these darn weeks down, dang it!
