Check out all of the loot Max came home from school with on Valentine's day.

He had a great time trading valentines I think. Each of the kids decorated a lunch sack to collect the goods in. It was so cute to see all the valentines where the little kids wrote their names. I'm sure we'll get Max there someday.

I was a little bummed though because I wanted to make these adorable things for his Valentines.

Aren't they so cute? (If you want to see how to make them check out
this post from
Scribbit)
But of course I didn't have nearly enough time to do that, so I had to send him with Nemo/Cars/Incredibles etc. valentines from Walmart with sweet-tarts stapled to them. Not so cute, but it still took me a long time to get them ready. I didn't feel bad but I was just bummed out not to get to craft a little when there was a good excuse.
BUT I did get involved in something else fun for Valentines. It was the "Valentines Swap" which my friend
Erica hosted. (By the way if you haven't checked out Erica's blog you totally should. She's very entertaining, informative and cute--a good combo.)
Those involved in the swap were assigned a partner, and then we had to get together some sort of a fun valentine's package for them. It was a lot of fun to do. My partner did a great job. It was so fun to get a big package full of exciting red and pink happy lovey kind of stuff.

Thanks so much
Sarah!
Check out the valentines quilt that Kathy (Kris's mom) gave me for my birthday.

I love it! It goes so great with the wood on my table and it's so cheery. Just what we need in cold freezing freezing February.
On Valentines day I set up a festive table in the tradition of my mother--some chocolates, some cards. The essentials. (the monkey that you can see on the right hand plate was for Max from Kris's mom. He's carried it around constantly ever since he opened it)

I got Kris
these really cool heart cufflinks. Very fitting for the holiday in my opinion!
I helped Max make a special valentine for Kris after school. I think he enjoyed the process, but as always with coloring/drawing he was glad when we were done.
Note the precise sticker placement.

And lastly I'll leave you with my favorite decoration out of the ones I tried to come up with this year. I think it turned out pretty cute.
